Join local expert geoligist and fossil hunter Chris Pamplin for a 2 hour fossil hunting walk and talk at Charmouth, great fun, no need to book, just turn up!
Meeting by the flag pole on Charmouth Sea front near the Beach Cafe and Fossil Shop. Tickets on the day from Chris.

"We all (a group aged from 7 to 73) really enjoyed yesterdays fossil walk. The introductory talk was great and then theres the great advantage of having an expert to take you to the best locations and check over the things you find. So much more effective, satisfying and safer than an unguided walk on the beach or random hammering at the rocks. Everyone in our group found fossils! Great value at a fiver a head, too." Baker family, Oxfordshire

Cost £5 Adults, £3 child, children under 4 free.
Please bring correct money if possible

Suitable for all ages, children (Under 16) must be accompanied by an adult

Clothing: We get sunshine and rain during summer months, so make sure you have clothing for the weather on the day. Wellies or walking boots for wet weather or shorts and beach shoes, sandals or crocks for the hot weather.

What to bring

Please bring suitable clothing for the weather, see Live webcam Lyme Regis for the weather today at Charmouth and Lyme Regis.
Bring water if very hot and sun tan cream.
Walks take place on the beach with boulders and pebbles so stout footwear is advisable. Wellies are the best all weather option.

Do I need a hammer?

The hammer is an essential tool when fossil hunting, but remember,
'Your best tool is your Eyes!' Do not use your hammer to dig in the cliffs.
Hammers are for breaking stones which may contain fossils, which you find loose on the beach.

Buy a hammer

Only brick or geology hammers, no chisels or screwdrivers.

You can telephone 0845 094 3757 to check if the walk is taking place. As yet I have never cancelled a public walk,
unless I am ill I will always come to the beach for the walks. If I am ill I will post this info on the events page.
