School visits to Charmouth Dorset
Guided fossil hunting
walks for your class. Chris will take up to 2 classes at a time . Cost is £3.00
per child and adult helpers go free. Min.booking £60. Walks take 2 hours
including a 20 minute talk. Walks and talks take place on the beach. For larger
groups Chris would be joined by a second leader if required.
Chris talks
about understanding fossils and life in the past, what a fossil is, how they got
there, what they are made of, geological time, time before humans, rocks and minerals,
dinosaurs and other fossils. How ideas change with new evidence, evolution and
Mary Anning. Chris is a geologist( B.Sc.) with 13 years experience of taking children
fossil hunting . All walks are risk assessed and copies are available for schools.
Your class remains your responsibility during the visit. Chris was formerly Earth
Science Advisor for the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and prior to that Senior
Warden at Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre. Fossilwalks.com is a private enterprise

Facilities
for day trips Charmouth
Beach has public toilets and a picnic area. Coach
parking is at the West Dorset car park half way down Lower Sea Lane, where there
are also toilets. Disclaimer School
